When you look around the world today…it seems we are in pretty bad shape. Although, some things are…it is not the first time in history, and it won’t be the last, that there are hardships, suffering, and sadness in the world.
I have often wondered exactly how people can care, serve, pray and be empathetic and happy all at the same time. I have always wanted to volunteer, to help the needy and less fortunate but it was too depressing. So, I would just stick my head in the sand and do nothing…feel nothing…which in reality adds to that depressed feeling.
Here is what I have discovered. When you are strong and healthy you can share in the pain of the world but not make it your own. You can acknowledge the sadness and despair felt by some but understand it is not yours. This may sound harsh and unfeeling, but I assure you it’s not. It is, by all counts, how people give of themselves and remain themselves. It is how you help mankind and continue to see the good in the world. You continue to experience love and peace even when you find yourself surrounded by just the opposite.
So when you see a need, reach out a hand. When you see sadness, shed a tear…but remember this:
Yours tears are prayers for the WORLD.
